John Twomey


John is co-founder of Emutex. He graduated as an Electronic Engineer from the University of Limerick in 1991. He began his career in Softech Telecom (Ireland) where he developed software for telephone billing systems. In 1993 he joined Tellabs (Ireland, USA) where he engineered embedded software for voice telephony signalling converters, switches and gateways. In this role he worked in close partnership with teams from Siemens, Nortel, Ericsson and Alcatel-Lucent to commission software and systems in telecom exchanges worldwide.

In 2000 he joined the start-up Basis Communications (Ireland, USA) which was soon acquired by Intel Corporation. In Intel, John managed multi-site engineering teams to design, develop and deliver embedded real-time software for Intel’s IXP range of network processors which are now widely used in internet communication appliances worldwide.
